Very much like Isla Iguana, Isla Cañas is also a wildlife refuge located west of Pedasi, Playa Venao and the town of Cañas. The island is known for its abundance of turtles, especially between June and November when thousands of turtles arrive at the beach to lay their eggs.
From the town of Cañas, a short boat ride will take us to the island and, thereafter, a horse drawn carriage will get us to the beach where, with some luck, we will see turtles laying their eggs at which time our guide will tell us how to approach the turtles. Season July to December (night tour).
