In the last couple of years Panama has experienced a big increase in the number of hotels and resorts in the city and in its main tourist destinations. We have carefully selected a small group of hotels, lodges, and resorts, that we believe are the best in each area always looking for price, value, character, and good service.
For your convenience, please find our selected hotels & resorts divided into the 7 major regions commonly used to classify hotel locations. The main hotel regions are Panama , Chiriqui, Cocle, Bocas del Toro, Colon, San Blas, and Azuero Peninsula.
Additionally, the hotels in each region are further divided into sub regions. In Panama, visitors will find a wide variety of modern luxury hotels in Panama City, and small boutique beach hotels at the Pearl Islands. If you travel to Chiriqui and decide to go to the highlands, you will find nice mountain lodges both in Boquete and Volcan. If you decide to travel to the Lowlands, Boca Brava Island is the place to go with its paradisiacal unspoiled beaches. Cocle, which is close to Panama city, offers a wide variety of mountain bed & breakfasts at EL Valle, and a selection of all inclusive beach resorts in Playa Blanca. Near the city is Colon and the famous Gatun Lake with its exuberant rainforest and wonderful hotel options. At the Archipelago of San Blas, there are more islands than days, but only a few hotels available mostly owned and operated by the Kuna tribe. At the Archipelago of Bocas del Toro visitors will find a wide selection of nice small beach hotels in Colon and its nearby islands. Last, but not least, is Azuero Peninsula, with its charming colonial towns and the beautiful coastline.

Hotels in Panama Province
Welcome to the country of countless possibilities. Panama is a major province of the country and is located on the Pacific side of Panama, bordering on the provinces of Darien, San Blas, Colon and Cocle. The capital of this province and the capital of the country is Panama City. The province has a long coastline, with beautiful beaches. The islands off the coast of Panama province include Taboga Islands and Pearl Islands. Even though most information on the Panama Province focuses on Panama City itself, there are many other precious attractions in the area. There are several national parks, and the two main bridges, the Bridge of the Americas and Centennial Bridge, that span the Panama Canal and con-nect North and South America.
Hotels in The Colon Province
The Colon Province is located in the northwest of Panama City and borders the Caribbean Sea. The Province’s capital and Panama’s third city is Colon, Caribbean port to the Panama Canal and base of the biggest trade free zone of the western hemisphere. One of the province’s main attractions is the artificial Gatun Lake, a unique ecosystem and part of the Panama Canal. In the historic city of Portobelo the ruins of Spanish fortresses and churches can be visited.
Hotels in Cocle Province
Pristine white sand beaches and mystic cloud forest – the Cocle Province offers it all. Within a very short range – no more than 30 km – you will find nice all-inclusive beach resorts with a huge offer of activities as well as small and cozy boutique hotels or bed & breakfasts located in the tranquil village of El Valle. If you want to see two completely different faces of Panama, the Cocle Province is where to go.
Hotels in Bocas del Toro
Bocas del Toro is located within the north-west of Panama on the border with Costa Rica. It is made up of several large islands. The main islands are Colón Island, Bastimentos Island and Cristobal Island. The heart of this province is about an hour away from Panama City by plane, and approximately 10-12 hours by car. Bocas del Toro, the capital, is located on Isla Colón and has lately become a popular tourist destination. The other parts of the province are still relatively untouched by tourism. Bocas offers many excellent spots for snorkeling, diving and fishing. Due to the fact that the province is home to many species of endangered birds, fresh water turtles and the poison dart frog, it offers many chances for bird watching and observing animals. A highlight for nature lovers are of course the deserted beaches. A total of ninety-five percent of La Amistad National Park lies within the province Bocas del Toro, as does Bastimentos National Park. Bocas del Toro - the destination for both, adventure and recreation.
Hotels in San Blas Islands
With more islands than days of the years, the Archipelago of San Blas is an amazing destination for those looking to get off-the-beaten-path and have a relaxed holiday on their turquoise Caribbean waters. These islands of San Blas are home to the Kuna tribe, who run the islands independently from the national government of Panama. Most of the hotels offer rustic accommodations and most are owned and operated by the Kunas.
Hotels in Chiriqui
The province of Chiriqui consists of two main areas, the highlands and the lowlands. The highland area is the heart of Chiriqui and it extends from the mountains of La Amistad Park to the misty cloudforests of Boquete and Volcan. Boquete and Volcan with its cool climate is perfectly suited for the cultivation of coffee, citrus fruits, and flowers. It is also one of the country’s top destination for nature lovers Several hundred bird species have been indentified in this area including the resplendent Quetzal which is one of the most exotic birds in Central America. Both Boquete and Volcan offers a wide range of hotel accommodation options that include everything from moderate mountain lodges to luxury hotels with all the amenities and services. The lowlands of Chiriqui are home to Panama’s second largest city as well as hundreds of miles of beautiful unspoiled Pacific beaches and islands. The Gulf of Chiriqui which is home to the National Marine Park of the Gulf of Chiriqui, protects 25 islands, 19 coral reefs and abundant wildlife. Among the protected islands is Boca Brava, a lovely small island perfect for those looking for some adventure and relaxation.
Hotels in The Azuero Peninsula
The Azuero Peninsula in the heart of Panama is frozen in an idyllic past with lots of charm and natural beauty left. Most of Panama’s folkloric traditions have their origins on the Azuero Peninsula. There are only a few beach hotels but therefore it is still possible to find a deserted seaside paradise. For nature and animal lovers especially Isla Cañas – the most important nesting spot for sea turtles on Panama’s Pacific coast – can be recommended.
