Hotel Bahia is located at the southern end of the third road in a majestic and very old wooden building. It was constructed in 1905 and is still standing, despite the destructive earthquakes from 1917 and 1991. With over 100 years of age the hotel is one of the oldest buildings of the area. Before the Hotel Bahia opened its doors in 1968 the house was headquarter of the United Fruit Company, seat of three consulates as well as the station of Tropical Radio & Telegraph. The history of the building as well as its location just above the sea make the hotel to a very special place at Bocas del Toro town.
The Hotel Bahia offers 18 spacious and comfortable rooms, all of them equipped with A/C, Cable TV and private bathroom with hot water. The friendly and relaxing atmosphere makes you feel at home, far away from home. After the renovation the Bahia additionally offers four new deluxe rooms with cozy Queen beds from Serta and modern decoration and furniture. All guests have access to the big balcony on the superior floor to enjoy the magnificent view of the bay and the main street of Bocas del Toro town.
The restaurant Old Joe offers a wide selection of delicious breakfasts. Everything is prepared with fresh and natural ingredients of the highest quality. Bread and pancakes are homemade based on old family recipes. The bocatorian breakfast is highly recommended and often ordered from locals to taste the nostalgia of the old times, when their mothers and grandmothers prepared those delicious dishes for them.
